Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
