Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
