Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
