Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
