Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
