Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
