Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
