Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
