Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
