Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
