Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
