Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
