Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
