Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
