Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
