Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn; 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Is there in this an oath for one endowed with understanding? 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Verily thy Lord is in an ambuscade, 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 Enter among My servants 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
