The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
