The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

۞ I swear by this city -- 1 in which you are now living 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is the freeing of a slave 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 of an orphaned relative 15 or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
