Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is the freeing of a slave 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
