Al-Balad

The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 On them is fire closed over. 20

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
