Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city - 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And showed him two highways? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 It is the freeing of a slave 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
