Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 to an orphaned relative 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
