Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) – 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
