The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
