Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
