The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And affirms goodness, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
