The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
