The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
