The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And affirms goodness, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
