The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
