When you set out at dawn from your home to assign battle positions to the believers -- God hears all and knows all. 121 When two parties of you almost fell away, and Allah was their Protecting Friend. In Allah let believers put their trust. 122 Allah had already given you the victory at Badr, when ye were contemptible. So observe your duty to Allah in order that ye may be thankful. 123 When thou saidst to the believers, 'Is it not enough for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down upon you? 124 Rather, if you have patience and are cautious, and they suddenly come against you, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand marked angels' 125 And Allah did not bestow this victory except for your happiness, and only that your hearts may attain peace with it; and there is no help except from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. 126 That He may cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or overwhelm them so that they retire, frustrated. 127 [And] it is in no wise for thee [O Prophet] to decide whether He shall accept their repentance or chastise them - for, behold, they are but wrongdoers, 128 Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belong to God. He forgives whoever He pleases and punishes whoever He pleases. God is most forgiving and ever merciful. 129
