The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
