The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
