The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
