The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
