The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
