The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
