The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
