The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
