He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
