Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
