The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
