The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
