The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
