The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
