The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 They who are during their prayer humbly submissive 2 those who turn away from all that is frivolous; 3 and who are intent on inner purity; 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 Except from their wives and women slaves of old are free of blame, 6 But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - 7 And those who of their trusts and covenant are keepers. 8 And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- 9 Those are the heirs 10 Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide. 11 We created man from the finest extract of clay, 12 then We made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. 16 We have indeed fashioned above you seven paths. Never were We unaware of the task of creation. 17 We sent down water from the sky in due measure, and lodged it in the earth, and We are able to take it all away. 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. 20 There are lessons for you in the cattle from whose bellies We give you milk to drink, and there are other advantages that you derive from them, and some of them you eat; 21 And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. 22
