The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
