Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
