Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
