Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
